"CAT is the best organizing training I've seen. Nothing like it is available in NY through other groups."

Retreat Center

For 2012, the Retreat Center is being revisioned and will be closed until further notice.  Please contact Nneka Taylor, 510 533 7583 for more information.

For over 15 years, the CTWO Retreat Center has served as a meeting place for organizers and organizations working in low-income communities and communities of color throughout the Unites States.

Located in the San Antonio District of Oakland, just one mile from Lake Merritt, the CTWO Training and Retreat center is a 16-room Victorian mansion. It was originally designed and built in 1886 by Augustus Laver, a noted California architect whose work includes San Francisco’s Nob Hill Flood Mansion (now the Pacific Union Club) and San Francisco’s original City Hall (prior to the 1906 earthquake). The mansion was declared an Oakland Historical landmark in 1990 and still retains much of its Victorian splendor today.

The Retreat Center has served a variety of hosts including members, leaders, and staff of community-based, not-for-profit, and student organizations. The first floor offers five unique and spacious meeting rooms, a computer center, and a fully equipped kitchen. The second floor has five large bedrooms, including two rooms with private baths. The top floor serves as CTWO's homes office.
